Hormone research grant success

Dr Xin Meng has been awarded £2000 from the Bioscientifica Trust for a study entitled “Role of adiponectin receptor in mammary gland mitochondrial biogenesis”.

Adiponectin is a hormone produced by fat cells. The aim of this study is to understand if this hormone may increase mitochondria in the mammary gland, which are vital for producing the energy required for breast milk production.
